The book's interior includes compositions that suggest population growth, dangerous weather patterns, and land erosion, emphasizing the human impact on the changing forces of nature.
The center spread of WE is a fold-out sheet mimicking the preamble of the U.S. Constitution. Printed on hand-made, antiqued parchment, the letter forms are created from the 26 most gerrymandered U. S. Congressional districts (c. 2016).
Although the letters are difficult to read at first, the brain quickly adapts to decode the text. This cognitive adjustment mirrors a broader process of collective conditioning, in which irrational interpretations, policies, and conditions gradually become familiar, normalized, and ultimately accepted. The absurdly contorted districts thus carry significance far beyond their arbitrary boundaries, embodying the power of systems that transform the illogical into the unquestioned.
